Country Fiddle - Vic Ukrainetz

Vic is a 3-time BC Fiddle Champion and much sought after instructor. He has shared the stage with Tommy Hunter, Peter Dawson and Calvin Vollrath, and has many recordings to his credit. Vic is now into bluegrass in a big way, from fiddle to mandolin and vocal harmony.

Mr. Something Something's performers present an afternoon of workshops, to infuse your music making and movement with improvisation and Afro-fusion form:

Larry Graves - West-African based Drumming

Participants will have the hands-on opportunity to explore rhythms, songs, hand drumming techniques and movement from various West African popular and indigenous traditions. Some instruments (drums; bells; rattles) can be provided- participants should bring their own if possible. No experience required. All levels welcome. Fun intended.

Jennifer Dallas - Modern African Dance and Movement

Jennifer's training is in both classical contemporary dance and West African dance. Inspired by both forms and accompanied by Mr Something Something's musicians, participants will explore the use of 'authentic' movement which is personal to the individual, then work in small groups to practice weight transfer between dancers, leading to contact improvisation. All levels welcome.

Paul MacDougal - Guitar Technique and Improvisation

Learn new chords; voicings and improvisation techniques for guitar players of all styles and levels. Bring a guitar if possible.

Todd Porter - Saxophone History and Technique

The sax was invented in the late 1800's but is still one of the most modern instruments in use today. This workshop will involve group play and some demonstrations of various saxophone capabilities (bari; tenor and soprano). All levels are welcome.

Digital Photography with Amanda McFadyen

This photography workshop places an emphasis on addressing the transition from silver based film photography to the digital age. Bring your camera and be prepared to move outdoors for inspiration and subject matter. All levels welcome. For more information please call Amanda at Awen Image Works 250-446-2554.
